resume - Daniel is new in town, and is getting picked on by the local bullies, who all are adept in karate. Determined to stick up for himself, Daniel begins to teach himself karate, only to discover that the caretaker at his apartment seems to be a grand master in karate. A lot of posts focus on the 'coming of age' aspect of this movie, but the very overlooked part is the role it played in helping to alleviate many of the stereotypes a very Asian phobic America was after WWII, Korea and Vietnam.
They make a point of showing Miyagi in a US Army Uniform- and a War Hero- and makes references to detention camps Miyagi's family was sent to (a horribly dark period in American history. where Miyagi's wife was being sent (pregnant) and where she and his unborn child (son) ultimately die during childbirth. There are also a few scenes in which ethnic slurs are used by rednecks toward Miyagi.
Taking this into light, and taking the fact that Daniel has no father that we know of in this movie, the name Daniel-san (sounds like Daniel-SON) helps demonstrate a father son bond that is overlooked. Much of the conversation between Daniel and Miyagi is about Miyagi's great father in Okinawa, because Miyagi has acquired all this knowledge and wants to share it. Daniel substitutes for the son Miyagi never had and Miyagi substitutes for the father Daniel doesn't have.

I met the kid who plays Billy at Comic-Con. He was pretty nice. Not to mention that Johnny experiences way more character growth than Danny. His entire arc is about his struggles of changing into a better person. He fulfills this and becomes the bigger man when Danny wins the fight, Johnny realizes his injury-inducing blow was wrong, and even hands the trophy to Danny. Even more, you can see the compassion in his eyes when Cobra Kai instructs him to injure Danny. Danny stays as the same hotshot and stubborn kid just now equipped with the skills to harm people in the reckless fights he will engage in like he does in the beginning. Dutch went to jail after the tournament he murdered someone in the parking lot after he was asked how he lost to Daniel. It's been over 30 years and he's finally being released and he's been plotting his revenge on Daniel Larusso. Daniel found out about Dutches release and his terrified for his life.

Mans really said unnatural powers he just piped his thing back into place. I find it HILARIOUS when Miyagi asks Wut odds in that high pitch tone! 🤣🤣🤣. Who is watching After Binging on Cobra KAI? Love Cobra Kai! SEE, Johnny was not the badguy, he even handed Daniel the Trophy. This is a Amazing and funny movie. Wow. .i am almost 43 and to know that this movie came out 34 year's ago just makes me realize i am old lol. best 80's film love gizmo. .i still have a original gizmo action figure in mint condition my mother got it for me when we went to the movie's and it sits next to her urn and never moves but to get cleaned. great movie and always will be.

If You Have Never Watched Karate Kid 1, 2 and 3; Than You Will Never Fully Understand or Appreciate Cobra Kai Series😍. That satisyfing look of dre after kicking Cheng give me lifes.

I feel awesome every time I listen to this. The karate in this movie: 🤚🏼 ✊🏼🦶🏼🦵🏼 The karate in the newer one: 🤼‍♂️🤸🏾‍♂️🤾🏾‍♂️. The best movie I've ever watched even tho this movie is 10 years ago now 😍. Looks like a good movies.
